Art preview: “Jazz Photographs by Herman Leonard”
Bill Clinton once called Herman Leonard, “the greatest jazz photographer in the history of the genre,” and with good reason. Leonard became enamored with jazz as a youth and has captured some of the most iconic images of American jazz artists from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s, including Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington. Taking in the vast collection of Leonard’s photography is a chance to experience an influential time in music history through the eyes of an artist and a fan.
