CRIS Immigrant Restaurant Tour

Columbus Food Adventures is pleased to partner with Columbus Refugee and Immigrant Services (CRIS) on a unique fundraiser tour featuring restaurant favorites of the local immigrant and refugee communities. On July 21, 22, and 23, this tour will visit restaurants featuring Nepalese, Senegalese, Ethiopian, and Somali cuisines. All proceeds will benefit CRIS, and deliciousness is guaranteed!

We’re particularly enthused about this tour since it cuts to the heart of why we started Columbus Food Adventures in the first place – to celebrate the diversity of amazing food the city has to offer, and to create the cross-cultural connections that dining fearlessly and discussing what you’ve eaten facilitates. Organizations like CRIS create the foundation for this, by providing the the orientation and education necessary to allow future immigrant restaurateurs to adapt to Columbus as their new home and to thrive here.

This tour will be conducted three times – on July 21, 22, 23, at 6pm, and costs $70 per person. All food is included in the cost, and every cent of profit will be donated to CRIS. To reserve your spot on the tour, please see here.

Kelleys Island to debut new beer, bratwurst

DSC03172[1]

Kelleys Island Brewery is debuting a new beer and a bratwurst sandwich made with the beer. The brewery on Kelleys Island in Lake Erie has teamed up with Fresh Fork Market in Cleveland, which has created a flat bratwurst made with the new Devil's Shadow Imperial Stout.

The beer and sandwich were expected to hit the menu this week.

Devil's Shadow is 9 percent alcohol by volume. Brewer Doug Muranyi said he was inspired to create the beer after having an imperial bourbon stout at Green Man Brewery in Asheville, N.C. His initial plan was to make a bourbon beer, but said he enjoyed the result without the bourbon.

"It's very smooth and delivers what a big beer should deliver," he said. "The taste of the roasted barley lingers with you for an hour."
