Concert preview: Zola Jesus charts a brighter course on Taiga

The operatic singer, who years ago departed the Wisconsin chill for sunny Los Angeles skies, has undertaken a similar shift in her music. While early albums were generally dark and moody, built around icy synthesizers and Jesus’ gothic wails, her latest, Taiga, is brighter and more accessible, tightening the electro artist’s more avant-garde tendencies on songs like “Go (Blank Sea)” and “Dangerous Days,” the latter of which could very nearly be termed radio-friendly.
