Willoughby plans brewery-exclusive bottle releases

BRUTES-QUAD-SQ-01

Willoughby Brewing Co. is planning a series of brewery-exclusive bottle releases this year, starting with Brute's Quad on April 11. The Willoughby brewpub also plans to release Nut Smasher Imperial Stout in June and December, and Legislation Ale Barleywine in October.

Brute's Quad is an 11.5 percent Belgian-style dark strong ale. There were only 900 22-ounce bottles produced and there is a limit of four per customer. It will be available starting at 11 a.m., with bottles costing $11. They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis and there will be no reservations or pre-sales.

"At 11.5 percent, this is a strong beer, with a complex malt flavor enhanced by the contributions of the Belgian yeast used," head brewer Rick Seibt said in an email. "Aroma and flavor of dark fruits like raisin and date, with a surprisingly dry finish."

The brewpub also will feature a special limited-edition draft list to coincide with the bottle release:

-- Brute's Quad.

-- Oaked Brute's Quad, whicih was finished on French oak chips.

-- 2013 Bourbon Barrel Aged Collaborator Doppelbock, the brewpub's collaboration beer with The Brew Kettle.

-- 2015 Aecht Schlenkerla Fastenbier, a special edition smoked lager imported from Germany.

-- Cask of Kaiserhof Kolsch with blood oranges.

Tickets are not required, and the special draft beers will not be sold in growlers or Crowlers.
