Rockmill honors Scooby with another round

Anyone who visited Rockmill Brewery knew Scooby. He was the big white dog -- a lab-husky-Pyrenees mix to be precise -- who would welcome visitors in the parking lot at the Lancaster brewery and bum cheese off of them in the tasting room.

Unfortunately, Scooby died after being hit by a car last year.

"He was my best friend," brewery owner Matthew Barbee said. "We did everything together."

Barbee created a special cask-conditioned dubbel to honor Scooby's memory last year. And now the beer is back.

"I decided to do one more round of it," Barbee said. "I wanted an opportunity for everybody to say goodbye."

The beer -- a big 12 percent alcohol by volume -- is being released now in 750ml bottles at the brewery and select bottle shops. This is a limited edition beer with only 1,000 bottles produced.
