Sideswipe to celebrate first anniversary with party

Sideswipe Brewing Co. -- which features some of the most artistic beer labels in Ohio -- will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a special party at its Columbus taproom this month.

The event will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24. Nine Sideswipe Brewing beers will be available on tap — the most ever at one time, the brewery said. The lineup will include three special releases: a bourbon barrel-aged smoke stout, a hopped IPA and cherry saison.

The event also will feature swag giveaways, brewery tours and an on-site food truck.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already, but what an amazing year it has been,” owner and brewer Craig O’Herron said in a news release. “We see this anniversary party as a way to celebrate our explosive growth over the last year and say ‘thanks’ to our loyal and passionate customers.”

He also announced that the brewery taproom will soon be open three days a week starting Jan. 29 to meet growing demand. The taproom currently is open only Thursday, but will expand its hours to 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

"We’re thrilled to expand our taproom hours and welcome more people into our humble little home," O’Herron said. "2015 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for Sideswipe Brewing and we have plans to increase our production and offer a whole range of new beers."

Sideswipe offers its beer on draft and in 22-ounce bottles at bars, restaurants and retail stores around Columbus. The flagship brands are: Elegant Hoodlum Smoke Stout, Fisticuffs IPA, and Coop Looter Saision.
